Dorothy Starbuck was thrilled to announce that two of her paintings sold during the recent Mattie Kelley Art Festival. The event, celebrating its 30th year in the city of Destin was wonderful, even with just a couple of hours of sunshine on Sunday, she thought the event "was quite successful and I am very happy with the number or art lovers stopping by my booth." She had just finished "Egret In A Swamp" 36x36 oil on canvas featuring a white Egret fishing along the bank of a river with a lovely mirror reflection in the water below. The piece was created with soft, elegant greens and muted browns in the trunks of the cypress tress immersed in the life giving water, adding a beautiful depth to the oil painting. It made its debut to the public for the first time at the event and "my students thought it would be a quick seller and they were right!" I am so proud it has found a new home and that it pleased the art buyers and festival participants as well. The other oil painting that sold during the festival was a favorite in my studio gallery. It is one of my most colorful and bright oil paintings in my collection, a true Southern flower, the Azalea is a classic and the work will be missed by many clients and friends that have enjoyed it. "Azalea" 12x16 oil on board was sold framed in gold.
